Where to Watch Local Football Teams
If you’re looking to spend time with friends and family supporting local sports, LYH is home to two collegiate football teams. Both offer great game-day environments, just on different scales.
Liberty University
Liberty University, a private Christian university with over 15,000 residential students, currently competes in NCAA Division I FBS as a member of Conference USA. The Flames football team will play six total home games at Williams Stadium this year. Liberty will also host the CUSA Football Championship on December 6.
Last year, the Flames football team had a historic season, making it all the way to the Fiesta Bowl, where they ultimately fell to the Oregon Ducks. If you’re looking for a large-scale, packed game environment, a Liberty football game is the perfect place for you.
The VUL Dragons compete in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). The Dragons will play three total home games this semester, competing against Atlantis University of Miami, S.C. Central Christian College, and Lighthouse College. If you’re looking for a calmer, more relaxed game environment, a VUL football game is right for you.
And, of course, our local high schools certainly have the football spirit! If you graduated from one of these local schools or have a family member currently attending, going to a game or two is a great way to show team spirit!
E.C. Glass High School
The E.C. Glass Hilltoppers have a packed schedule, playing five total home games this year. They’ll play against other local schools including Liberty Christian Academy, Heritage High School, Rustburg High School, and more.
Heritage High School
Heritage High School’s football team will also play five total home games this year against Tuscarora High School, Potomac Falls High School, and more.
Liberty Christian Academy
Liberty Christian Academy, a local Christian private school, also has a competitive football team. The LCA Bulldogs will play four home games this semester against local public schools.
